Development of engineering solutions in the field of radiation, ultrasound, thermal and other types of non-destructive testing. TPU hosts the first Center for Industrial Tomography in Russia.
Research areas:
-
X-ray radiography and tomography: robotic X-ray systems are developed based on betatrons to inspect defects in complex parts of gas pipelines. Scientists create self-propelled flaw detection systems for radiographic testing of pipeline welds.
-
Ultrasound tomography: robotic systems are developed for ultrasound tomography of large items.
-
Thermal tomography: thermal imaging flaw detectors are developed for two-dimensional thermal tomography and can be used to detect subsurface defects in composite materials, thermal coatings and corrosion.
