Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence

TPU scientists develop digital technologies and artificial intelligence for a wide variety of applications:

  • Production and processing of liquid hydrocarbons – digital technologies to improve production efficiency, including digital core, machine learning systems for field analysis, methods to enhance oil recovery and increase the development of hard-to-recover reserves, digital methods for efficient hydrocarbon processing.

  • New generation nuclear technologies – nuclear fuel cycle closure, decommissioning of nuclear power facilities, technology for safe handling of nuclear materials, non-destructive testing methods and technology.

  • Power Transmission – digital models and algorithms for power system capacity control, real-time power system simulators.

  • Chemistry, biomedicine and pharmacology – modeling and optimization of chemical and technological industrial processes, computer design and simulation of new chemical compounds, finite-element modeling of anatomical structures to develop personalized implants and plan surgical operations, finite-element modeling and visualization of anatomical structures based on electroimpedance tomography.

  • Nondestructive testing – software algorithms for automated processing of non-destructive testing data, used to detect defects and determine their parameters.

  • Terrorism and threats to national security – research and software development in the field of information and communication technologies, as determined by the Strategy for the Development of Information Society in the Russian Federation for 2017-2030, the Comprehensive Plan for Countering Terrorism Ideology in the Russian Federation for 2019-2023. In this respect, our priority is to ensure information security of citizens of the Russian Federation in terms of protection against potential sources of information security threats and risks, prevention of challenges, risks of any social and cultural threats (including all kinds of protest manifestations), threats of extremism (including information extremism), and terrorism.
