Mission

Development of applied and fundamental research in the areas of hydrogen energy technologies, materials science for hydrogen energy, condensed matter physics, plasma physics, and beam and plasma technologies in accordance with world cutting-edge trends.

The main advantages of hydrogen as energy supply

  • Unlimited supplies of raw materials, if we consider water as a source of hydrogen
  • Environmental safety, since the product of combustion of hydrogen is water
  • High efficiency of hydrogen fuel cells, it is from 60 to 70% of the fuel energy
  • Direct turns into electricity
  • Unique ecological purity of the energy sources using hydrogen as a fuel
  • One of the possible solutions to the energy security problems


Main tasks
    • Development of a project and putting into operation industrial-demonstration samples of power plants of various capacities, operating on waste hydrogen and natural gas
    • Use of beam-plasma technologies to create a prototype of solid oxide fuel cell with thin-film electrolyte, operating at a temperature of 600-7000°С and having a power density of not less than 0.5 W /cm2
    • Use of track nuclear-physical technologies to increase proton conductivity of polymer membranes of hydrogen fuel cells
    • Design and creation of materials resistant to prolonged exposure to hydrogen
    • Implementation of non-destructive testing methods of hydrogen embrittlement in structural materials
    • Optimization of methods for radiative and low-temperature removal of hydrogen from structural materials
