On 23 May the chairman of the first-rate Russian pharmaceutical company CJSC R-Pharm Alexey Repik visited Tomsk Polytechnic University where he met with the university students – company scholarship holders.
Each month 25 TPU students having passed the competitive selection will get additional 10 thousand rubles. They are the students of the Institute of Natural Resources, the Institute of Physics and Technology and the Institute of High Technology Physics. Head of R-Pharm company visited Tomsk Polytechnic University with the express purpose – to meet with young talented chemists in an informal way.
“I would like to explain to you that the scholarship does not mean any obligations before our company”, said Alexey Repik. “We are doing it not to oblige you but to support. And we are ready for further cooperation if you are interested in it, if you wish it during our communication; and I and other our managers are always ready to answer your questions, listen to your suggestions, consider interesting ideas and projects”.
The R-Pharm scholarship program is a pilot one for Tomsk city though the company already has an experience of such cooperation. In Yaroslavl where the R-Pharm Pharmaceutical plant is situated a similar program involves four universities. Students not only get their scholarships but take training courses abroad at most advanced enterprises of the industry.
At present R-Pharm is a strategic partner of the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University. In the framework of the cooperation on the basis of the Institute of Natural Resources a unique scientific and educational centre “TPU-R-Pharm” is being established. It is the place to train specialists in a new master program “Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industry Engineering”.
“Our joint project with TPU “Academy of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Industry” is the first attempt to train exclusive modern specialists for our industry”, noted Alexey Repik.
TPU students could ask R-Pharm head all the questions they are interested in concerning not only the scholarship program but the prospects of pharmaceutical industry development in Russia as well. In his turn, vice-rector, director of the Institute of Natural Resources (TPU) Andrey Dmitriev explained to the audience that the new Centre of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Industry being established in the cooperation with R-Pharm is a key project of the Institute.
“A new master program is being opened, new equipment purchased, unique laboratories founded. So our students have all the conditions to grow in high-class specialists. They just have to study diligently”, he said.
“In general Tomsk suits for out initiatives realizations perfectly well”, said Alexey Repik in conclusion of the meeting. “Not every city has a whole street of universities. You have a special concentration of intellect. There is a Special Economic Zone, then the Innovation&Education Cluster will be founded, and Tomsk Polytechnic University will get the status of the federal innovation platform. Financing there will be considerable, and we are ready to support and co-finance some interesting projects if it is necessary”.
CJSC R-Pharm is a Russian high-tech pharmaceutical enterprise founded in 2001 in Moscow. Nowadays, the company is involved in R&D, manufacturing, market access and distribution of pharmaceuticals used in hospital and specialty care.
