Tomsk Polytechnic University is not only a source of manpower for domestic enterprises, but also a unique partner, which scientific developments make a significant contribution to the development of Russian industry.
In 2015, implementation of a project in collaboration with RSC «Energia» and the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Sciences was successfully completed. A robotic center for friction stir welding quality control was developed. The center provides thermal-imaging, radiation, ultrasound and other tests. In addition to the aerospace industry the robot can be used in the automotive, shipbuilding and even food industry.
A joint project with Kemerovo experimental mechanical-repair plant (KORMZ) was completed this year. Scientists of Tomsk Polytechnic University have created a prototype device to work underground - a tunneling machine (geokhod). It can be used for the construction of tunnels, saving people from the consequences of natural disasters and help to build an entire underground city.
The project «Development of New Technology of Tungsten-Containing Products of Improved Quality» is conducted in collaboration with JSC «Zakamensk» (Buryatia, Russia).
In 2016 TPu has launched two projects:
- «Creation of prospective technologies for introvision and launch of combined systems for onlinr diagnostics of production of composite materials and products for aerospace industry (in cooperation with JSC «NIIgrafit», GC «Rosatom»).
- Mechatronic Systems (in cooperation with JSC «Micran»).
TPU is a developer and manufacturer of unique technologies and equipment that are used in the most advanced sectors of the Russian industry and steady demand abroad. The University is the world's only developer and supplier of small betatron. Small-size pulse betatrons of the MIB type are used for radiographic testing and diagnostics of the quality of products and materials in non-stationary conditions.
