Overview

The Bachelor degree program in Geoecology is aimed to train specialists in the areas of ecology and management of natural resources. The following specialists are in high demand since being able to assess the anthropogenic impact on the environments as a result of any production activity related to exploration of deposits, extraction, and processing of mineral resources, and the development of new high-tech and energy-intensive industries. Along with this, the close collaboration of the Tomsk University with various companies allows providing students with knowledge and experience in environmental regulation, geo-environmental monitoring, and geo-environmental design.

The program will provide students with the following competencies:

  • know fundamentals of environmental management, environmental economics, sustainable development, environmental impact assessment, legal fundamentals of environmental management and environmental protection
  • apply theoretical foundations of environmental monitoring, regulation, and reduction of environmental pollution, man-made systems and environmental risk
  • know fundamentals of ecology, geo-ecology, human ecology, social ecology, environmental protection
  • apply methods of applied ecology, environmental mapping, environmental impact assessment, and monitoring
  • apply methods of processing, analysis, and synthesis of field and laboratory environmental and geo-ecological information
  • apply methods of landscape-geo-ecological design, monitoring, and expertise
  • use GIS-technology
