The awarding ceremony of the first All-Russia Educational Olympiad I’m Professional was held for winners in Moscow. There were nine students from Tomsk Polytechnic University. The graduate student of the School of Computer Science & Robotics Ivan Nadin won a gold medal and the student of the School of Energy & Power Engineering Pavel Tkachenko won a silver one in the competition.

 

 

The first Olympiad I’m Professional was held in the framework of the forum: Russia – a Country of Opportunities. This is a large-scale educational Olympiad created in a new format for students pursuing various degrees in engineering, humanities, and natural sciences. The competition was organized by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Experts from leading universities and the largest companies of Russia designed the tasks for participants. It was not abstract erudition but professional knowledge that was tested at the Olympiad.

 

TPU student Ivan Nadin won a gold medal in the category Management in Technical Systems. The winner was awarded a prize of 300 thousand rubles.

 

Ivan Nadin shared:

‘When taking the first online stage of the Olympiad, I could not imagine that I would get to the number of winners. I am very glad that now I have an opportunity to enter a PhD program at one of the best Russian universities without exams.

 

I will also be able to choose a Russian company to take a half-year paid internship after graduation.’

 

TPU student Pavel Tkachenko won a silver medal in the category Electrical and Heat Power Engineering among undergraduate students. Besides, TPU students Andrey Neshcheretnev, Alexander Tsimmerman, Alexander Andreev, Sergey Yuriev, Maksim Gukov, Alexander Roppert, and Segey Bannikov also became the laureates of the Olympiad.

 

The Olympiad I’m Professional was organized on 27 categories. About 295 thousand applied to participate in the competition. The best participants received cash prizes, benefits for enrollment to master and PhD studies at the best universities of the country, including Tomsk Polytechnic University, as well as opportunities to take internships at leading Russian companies.

 

The second Olympiad I’m Professional is expected in the end of 2018.
