Tomsk Polytechnic University has joined the program of Google – G Suite for Education. It is a cloud solution from Google, which includes tools for working with e-mail, documents, tables, presentations, file storage, etc. Now, TPU staff members and students may use these services with @tpu.ru address, as well as to store unlimited amounts of data in the Google cloud.
G Suite for Education was created specifically for academic institutions so that learners and students could team up and efficiently work together remotely.
Deputy Head of the TPU Division for Information and Analytics Konstantin Kvasnikov notes: ‘
TPU participation in this project provides more opportunities for our staff members and students in using the Google service for private and academic purposes.
For instance, if you are an individual user of Google Disc, your stored data is limited to 15 Gb, and as a TPU user, you will have not limitations. You can create network folders with common access and store unlimited amounts of data. Google mail will be available with the address @tpu.ru. All services in the package are provided without advertising.’
At present, the Division for Information and Analytics is developing technical regulations for switching TPU students to this service. It is supposed that all TPU freshmen will be directly connected to the program and other students will join it on request after the adoption of the technical regulation.
