First students from Egypt enrolled in the joint educational program Engineering and Operation of Nuclear Power Plants told what they expect from studying at Tomsk Polytechnic University.
Tomsk Polytechnic University and the Egyptian Russian University signed an agreement to implement a joint study program Nuclear Power Plants: Design, Operation and Engineering. Graduates of the program will receive two diplomas of TPU and ERU. The program is implemented under the auspices of the State Corporation Rosatom. First Egyptian students have already come to TPU.
‘Why did we choose Tomsk Polytechnic? Indeed, we were told that TPU is one of the best universities.
We hope that we will be able to successfully study in Tomsk and be happy here,’ says one of the students Karim Rifant.
The duration of the study program is 5.5 years. ERU implements the first three years of study in accordance with the agreed curriculum, where students pursue basic courses of the program. According to the students, in Egypt they studied the main disciplines: basic and nuclear physics, electronics and electrical engineering, etc.
‘As regards our study at TPU, our objective is to master fundamental knowledge and make it more applied.
We are committed to practice-oriented work at laboratories,’ says the student Mohamed Said Saliman Ahmed.
The Egyptian students have already begun their studies. Currently, they are taking theoretical training on special disciplines. Practical works in the laboratories and at the research nuclear reactor are planned in the following semesters. Upon completion of the program, the students expect to join a large-scale Rosatom project.
‘We will be very happy if we have a chance to get into the team of Rosatom, perhaps even in Russia. We would particularly like to join a large-scale project implemented by Rosatom in Egypt. We are open to offers,’ said the students from Egypt.
