This academic year, the European Commission within the framework of Erasmus+ supported four new student exchange programs between Tomsk Polytechnic University and universities in France, Spain, Finland and Romania. TPU students have an opportunity to spend one or two academic terms at the partner university. The results of studying abroad are transferred to TPU.
New exchange programs are available with the University of Grenoble-Alpes (France), the University of Piteshti (Romania), the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) and the University of Tampere (Finland).
In total, there are nine student exchange programs with foreign universities within Erasmus+. There are also exchange programs with the University of NOVA (Portugal), the University of Saarland (Germany), the University of Maribor (Slovenia), the University of Aalto (Finland) and a few European universities in the framework of the MULTIC project coordinated by the Technical University of Dresden.
“Participants of Erasmus+ programs receive financial support from the European Commission. As a rule, it covers travel expenses and a monthly scholarship for the period of study at the partner university. The number of students, courses and requirements for the level of an academic program, e.g. bachelor’s, master’s or PhD courses, are stipulated in the agreement with each university.
The most relevant areas of training are IT, power engineering, physics and mathematics,”
- notes chief expert Marina Tayurskaya of the International Students Office.
Students wishing to participate in the exchange program can apply for the competition twice a year: for the fall term and for the spring term.
In 2015/2016 academic year TPU took part in eight Erasmus+ projects of academic mobility. Over this period 38 undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as 18 faculty members of TPU participated in the program. The total amount of Erasmus+ grants for TPU participants made over 180,000 euros.
