17.04.2017 Awards

The largest oilfield service company Schlumberger awarded four TPU students with scholarships within TPU Career Days. In addition to the cash prizes the students were invited to have an internship with Schlumberger.

Graduate students of the Institute of Natural Resources Elizaveta Maksimova and Anton Vasiliev, a graduate student of the Institute of Cybernetics Alexey Tsavnin and an undergraduate student of the Institute of Physics and Technology Anastasia Sheveleva became the winners of the competition.

Anton Vasiliev presented a project on the modeling of oil and gas fields. According to the student, this topic is relevant since modeling is applied at every design stage.

“The novelty of the project is bound to a new method to adjust a model. That was not a manual but automated adjustment,” told the graduate student adding that the project was based on real data.

Elizaveta Maksimova presented a microplasma sensor that ensures radiation safety of staff in oil and gas fields. The sensor is designed as a portable device that can be used for monitoring of both the environment and human health.

“I decided to take part in the Schlumberger competition because, first of all, my project is related to the company specifics, and secondly, they are looking for talented students who are engaged in research.

I presented my device in order to receive a professional feedback,”

she added.

In 2015, three students of Tomsk Polytechnic University became the winners of a similar Schlumberger competition.
